Sommerso continues to excite and intrigue the Murano glass artists today, and Alessandro Mandruzzato, (b.1970) is a master glassmaker and a member of the family that has been part of the art business for four generations. This unique pair of vases are a more contemporary take on the sommerso technique with their sinuous outline and flat sides, orange/red core and coloured textured sides they evoke the Memphis movement.
