Sommerso continues to excite and intrigue the Murano glass artists today, and Alessandro Mandruzzato, (b.1970) is a master glassmaker and a member of the family that has been part of the art glass business for four generations. This vase is a more contemporary take on the sommerso technique, with a baluster outline and flat textured sides, it has an orange/red core submerged yellow glass then in pale blue glass.
