Wax Profile Portrait of a Lady by Leslie Ray, 20th Century

20th century
15 x 13 cm

Although he was born in 1926, Leslie Ray felt he was living in the wrong era and to counteract this he created wax profile portraits of imaginary characters of the late 18th and early 19th century. They are deftly modelled in wax and emulate ivory without threatening the suffering pachyderms. This lady is dressed in the style of the early part of the reign of Queen Victoria and can become your very own “instant ancestor”.
