Silver plate covered circular box by Puiforcat, mid 20th century

mid 20th century
silver plate and enamel
7.5 cm high 14 cm diameter

The French Art Deco designer Jean Puiforcat was renowned for the elegant, almost mathematical, simplicity of his geometric forms and his unusual combination of materials. This beautiful circular box has a cover surmounted by an enamelled sphere simulating a hardstone finial. No wonder he was avidly collected by Andy Warhol who definitely had an eye for the chic and elegant.
