Early 1900’s Art Nouveau Table Lamp, circa 1900

circa 1900
silverplated metal and art glass
67 x 16 cm
$380

The latest fashion in modern lighting in 1900 was this whipsmart silver-plated table lamp, especially made for that new fangled innovation ELECTRICITY! No more smoky oil lamps or candles, and servants to light, trim and clean them, just flick a switch and hey presto we have light! Completely up to date in the art nouveau style promoted by the designer WAS Benson, the sinuous forms imitate nature and it still has the original art glass shade in the style of the Harry Powell of Whitefriars who was famed for his modern glass design.

This lamp is working order and requires a lightbulb.
